Scobleizer: Twitter now reliable?

  • Rachel · 1 year ago
Weird...just about to go into a presentation by Jeff Barr at BarCampBrighton
  • William Tildesley · 1 year ago
Yep, It's much more reliable, also I've noticed a MASSIVE influx of people following me, anyone else?
  • Chris Thomson · 1 year ago
Yep, I agree, it's definitely gotten better. Now would be a good time for them to up the requests/hour to 80, 90 or 100. I go insane if I can't get that many updates/hour.

I'm glad Twitter is doing better now, because without it, I feel 'out-of-the-loop'. Haha :)

    Twitter improved remarkably.Long trend?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the move from Joyent to NTT (if I remember correctly). I'd love more details from the Twitter tech team.

Hey Robert ... totally off topic, I just noticed your work information on the blog is er ... slightly out of date. One of the downsides of RSS .. I only just noticed.
  • Fred Brunel · 1 year ago
Well, Twitter has definitely improved but it still went down during the iPhone SDK announcement.

I think using SXSW as a test of Twitter's reliability might be a little out of touch. According to their website, about 7,000 people go. A lot more than 7,000 people watched the Superbowl (or participated in other events that brought twitter down).

I'm not saying they aren't more reliable, but I'm not sure if SXSW is the tough test.
  • Ryan · 1 year ago
Wait.. there seems to be a flaw in this logic.

    1. Twitter has always been slow.
    2. This one time, it wasn't slow.

    therefore, twitter is now reliable.

I think only time will tell. Perhaps SXSW just wasn't as big as you thought it was, and there wasn't the as much stress as your other "really important in the valley but nobody on the east coast cares about" conferences were putting on the server.

    Just a thought.

I have fooled around with the twitter and have come to the conclusion that I am totally confused about its usefulness.

Like Tony Dee, I too have read plenty about the usefulness of Twitter but I just can't see it! Strange but true.
