Although known as the Statue of Eros, the figure itself is actually of the Angel of Christian Charity. When changing the name from the Shaftesbury Monument, the childlike statue complete with bow was mistaken for the Greek god of love, and since then the name has stuck.

Actually, when I was talking with the guy who named Wifi, he said his firm keeps dictionaries of a ton of different languages. Often times they'll find a good name from another language.

Welsh has seven vowels: a,e,i,o,u,w and y, so words full of 'w's and 'y's aren't actually lacking in vowels even though they may appear so to English speakers.
