    Here's a good example of a Welsh sign - http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_appr...

    Have a safe journey and come visit again soon.

    For those who don't know where the Eros Statue is, here's how you get there. Go to Picadilly Circus on the tube or bus. Then look for this thing:

    Can't miss it. I certainly won't be.

    Tom, looking forward to seeing you.

    Robert, yeah, that's the kind of sign I was thinking of. Thanks! I hope to be back. Maryam's brother lives in Newport, so it wouldn't surprise me to be a regular visitor of Wales.

    Welsh has seven vowels: a,e,i,o,u,w and y, so words full of 'w's and 'y's aren't actually lacking in vowels even though they may appear so to English speakers.

    eifion: thanks, didn't know that.

    Actually, when I was talking with the guy who named Wifi, he said his firm keeps dictionaries of a ton of different languages. Often times they'll find a good name from another language.

    Oh a better landmark to meet at Hyde park being a bit big.

    Robert just rember the traffic is on the other side of the road and the double deckers don't take no prisoners.

    Don't forget that the world's longest domain name is Welsh: http://www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch.com.

    Hi there,

    Just so you know, it's not actually Eros that statue, but try asking for it by it's real name (Agape I think) and you'll never find it.

    visit Tate Modern and try the big slides !
  • Darren Straight · 3 years ago
    @Nick: Let's check wikipedia! ;)

    Although known as the Statue of Eros, the figure itself is actually of the Angel of Christian Charity. When changing the name from the Shaftesbury Monument, the childlike statue complete with bow was mistaken for the Greek god of love, and since then the name has stuck.
