Scobleizer: Tara at Riya is trying to learn about tagging

    I tag because it weaves the items in my memory together. It has become an essential step in remembering things. Since fastblogit opened last August we have created over 2835 items. Now how are you gonna remember all of those without tagging them?

    LOL, somehow I doubt you or anybody else would be a "loser" if you didn't tag. Isn't that maybe just a wee bit hyperbolic, Robert?

    a lot of "tag clouds" make a "tag gardens". A tag Garden is where the most low hanging fruit can be quickly harvested.

    For those who know, Yeah the Q:"where is merlin" kinda made a big cloud !! :)_ an easy to spot delimma !!

    Gosh, is that the only message I managed to communicate? And I thought that it was my wicked argumentation and logic which had worked its magic.

    I'll remember that next time I need to convince somebody of doing something. To hell with the reasoning! Just poke at their pride!

    Whatever happened to the concept of tagging so that others can find your posts easily? I large percentage of my traffic comes in via the tags. And too be honest I don't really do it for another reason. Is that shallow?

    I don't tag while blogging because it forces me to think on a broader scale, in terms of genres more than specific word associations. It doesn't necessarily make it easier to see associations between posts, but it makes organisation less of a sticky web. Also, search makes life easy in terms of finding things that are related.

    Tagging photos etc is a pretty good idea, on the other hand, because for most people with photos you want to remember a bunch of associations (e.g. a tag on a photo might be "Japan Tokyo Shibuya Night Tanaka-san Suzuki-san").

    Hmmm. I don't tag cos I truly don't know how to do it. I'm on blogspot. Don't even know if it LETS me tag! (My delicious entries are mostly tagged, when I remember to send my bookmarks there.)

    Tagging makes it easier to find related posts. Well that's the theory. As far as the "loser" bit goes...um..no, not really.

    Thanks for asking this question. Got me hunting the web for how to tag on BLOGGER. Found a load of information. The most useful of which is a little standalone program created by Rhys Wynne in Wales. You simply type the tags into the program, and it generates the relevant html code to clip into your blog post.     The reason why you tag is because you know something that we don't. For instance that some unnamed search engine will soon either directly reward tagged blogs, or launch a service which lets some people make money off tags (the search engine will make most money off it, but that's typical).

    That's a blog prostitution by the way. You like it?
