Sign me up, tentatively, Robert & Shel! I'll be in town through the weekend (as CES press, natch, as a blogger) and then at the sold-out Affiliate Summit 2006 immediately thereafter in Vegas (see http://www.affiliatesummit.com/ ). If I can't make that, I'd be up for lunch, coffee, beers, late-night nachos, whatever!

There used to be a great morrocan restaurant that was a ways off the strip and would be great for an informal dinner/gathering. Other than that, any bar big enough to hold a lot of people and without a band to drown us out.

For macworld, there's no real "bloggers" dinner per se, because there's nothing that new or exciting about blogging as a thing unto itself.

I'll be there for the 30th (and I hate the Cheesecake Factory, so that's saying something :)), and I'll be at Macworld most days. I'm hosting a breakfast thing on thursday, but otherwise I'm mostly attending.

I'll be at CES on the 7th and 8th, then at Macworld on the 9th and 10th.
For those planning events for Macworld, do understand that Macworld has a *very* full social calendar, and if you are conflicting with certain events, you're going to be outta luck. if you're planning something for late Friday, you may run into people leaving town that day.
to get an idea of what's going on. It's not 100% complete, but, it's a good place to look.

30th in south bay? count me in. (although I agree with Todd, there are so many fine independent local creative inexpensive fun restaurants here, why ever patronize a national chain?)
For Macworld (hi, John!), what I've seen happen in past years among a core crowd of Mac bloggers is a lunch expedition to nearby Specialties restaurant to pick up some incredible sandwiches/baked goods and then enjoy them outdoors (weather permitting) or the user group room at the show. I'd be willing to help make this happen, perhaps Wednesday?
I'm also working to organize a FileMaker developers gathering, a little more formal/organized, with a presentation of some cool tools, more likely later in the day Wed or Thurs.
Raines who asks: if I've gone to every Macworld/SF for all 21 years, does that mean I have to go forever?

I don't know if you're interested but Monster is having it's anual CES dealer warards concert this year. The concert is going to have Stevie Wonder. The show starts at 10pm and if anyone wannts to meet a bit before I have a few handfulls of tickets that I can give out.

A few comments - to answer the person about Chicago, yes there are people in Chicago who organize these types of gatherings, though not as large as elsewhere. I'll probably try to organize something while I'm back in Chicago between now and Jan 10th, ping me (shannon at meshforum.org) and we'll set something up.
My wife and I will be at CES all week and would love to show up for a geek event - sign us up.
