I admit it...I cheated and managed to skip pretty much all the annoyances listed above by simply...drumroll please...printing the darned thing out! Yep, that's right. I took a dynamic product like this magazine, put it through my laser printer and enjoyed it like I would any other magazine.

Call me old-fashioned, but it was pretty darned effective...and I didn't have to listen to ads yelling at me all day.

There are far faster magazine readers of that format out there, that one is too slow and far too fuzzy until you zoom in.

As for the content, maybe it's just me but I don't really get it - it just seems rather redundant.

If you're a blogger/podcaster you probably already know everything in it.

If you're not interested then you won't read it.

If you're looking to start out then it's not needed because blogging & podcasting are so simple and the info is all out there in more accessible forms (not to mention you probably wouldn't have heard of the mag).

There are better places to find more up to date news on the industry (here for instance!) and the nature of blogging/podcasting makes the interviews pretty pointless as you get to know people through their content anyway.

Ugh the site wants me to allow pop ups when I click the cover to read the content. Very lame for a site to be setup this way in this day and age. Yet many sites are setup exactly this way. Because I have my IE 7 pop up blocking set to high I now have to be annoyed to get to the content.

The Lost Game is an interesting social networking experiment tracking real world and online transfer of links. If you sign up with my address (above) I get points - and then you get to rate me for originality of the "plug". The suggestions the site gives for really original plugs are things like write it "on the side of a fish" etc...

Thought you might be interested - it's a new web "fad" / phenomenon / quirk. (Or maybe you have already seen it and didn't think it was worth a mention...

For a while I thought PDF was going to be the standard for online magazines (omitting the possibility that some new single company format like Zinio would predominate). Now it looks like Flash is a better choice. I've had several subscriptions switch over to this Flash style format and unsubscribed myself from the Zinio stuff.

Things now work for me just about everywhere. That is until Microsoft comes out with their "better" Flash-killer and fragments the market again.

You hit the nail on the head at Web 2.0 about sticking with the lowest common denominator technology.

Now let's hope that everyone does just that and doesn't fall for the hype over the new whizzbang stuff that only works on newer machines of a particular processor type that only run a certain OS, not to mention a certain browser.

It's terribly slow, annoying, noisy (I like my silent web) and restrictive. Essentially, it has all the negatives of paper and electronic formats, without many benefits for readers.

Holy crap, the ads actually MAKE NOISE. Remember in the olden days when everyone used to say that the way you could read WIRED magazine was glue together the ad pages and you could stomach it? The ads weren't audio-enhanced.

I'm kinda creeped out.

Uh, that's a horrible format! It's basically PDF reader. Your not just condoning, but praising, a non-indexable, proprietary format? Mmmppphht.

And with that pagecount, is more of a newsletter than a magazine.

Love the magazine, hate the audio/video commercials that scream out at you when you turn the electronic page (yikes!). With a free magazine (at least the electronic version anyway) I guess the publisher have to make their money somewhere though. . .
