Scobleizer: Best sandwich in America

    Best Sandwich in America?

You've never had an Italian Beef in Chicago from Jay's or Luke's.
  • Richard Callaby · 2 years ago
    Robert,

Um sorry it is a well known fact that the Spanglish sandwich is the best sandwich in America! MSNBC has obviously been bribed or something to say something so ridiculous. Just kidding. I really do like the Spanglish sandwich though, it is really high in calories so watch out. That sandwich does sound good though. To bad I am not there. Oh well.

Ate dinner there last night! See you tomorrow.
Health2.0 is a fascinating conference. Lots of good tools, but problems with adoption because of privacy issues and fear (FUD).

I wouldn't doubt Half Moon Bay has a good lobster roll - but just a few days ago Lobster Shack in Redwood City was said to have the "best lobster rolls west of Maine".

Never heard of a lobster roll until this week.

Sam's Lobster Roll is AMAZING! Deserves to be Best sandwich in America - Chunks of fresh Maine Lobster on a buttery roll with just the right amount of celery, and no yucky mayo. Can't beat it!

Let's not forget the amazing sandwiches at the San Benito Deli in downtown Half Moon Bay, Scoble! Delish!

    Robert,

Belated congrats on the new arrival. I was at Sam's this summer for a business dinner. Sorry to say I was not that impressed. I like the food in SF, but Philadelpha has some awesome food. Nest time you are in town I'll give you a software demo of the next big thing and dinner at Vetri. (the best restaurant in the US).

But I love Half Moon Bay.

    Cheers.

Surely Dean meant to say 'the best restaurant in the US other than French Laundry' ? :)

Reading that at 11am when the only thing to eat in the office is some shrivelled grapes and a couple of bruised apples is not cool.

    IWOOT! MmMmmm

Robert...I don't know about this. I live walking distance from Sam's (in El Granada) and really want it to thrive. No doubt it's a great spot to have a meal. But with the same ownership of Cetrella, I've been hoping for more.

And the lobster roll...haven't noticed anything spectacular about it. But maybe it's because I can't get past noticing how inconsistent the service is there. Once had to wait 90 minutes for a meal...another time my wife's dinner came out cold. If my family couldn't go for a nice stroll down the hill and go there, I'm not sure I'd ever go out of my way to have a meal there. Hanging out and having a beer there? Yup, perfect place for that...especially now that they have that outdoor patio area in the back.

Next time you head this side of rt. 92, blow by Sam's and treat yourself to the best burrito on the coast -- El Gran Amigo Taqueria in Moss Beach.

It maybe the best seafood sandwich. But Half Moon Bay has a way better sandwich house - San Benito House. Hands down winner.

    Oh, the pain.

Why on the Jewish day of atonement and fasting, on Yom Kippur, must you choose to blog about food?

Good looking sandwich. The best burger in the world can be found at Litton's in Knoxville, TN. They make their own bread from scratch.

I live in Half Moon Bay and eat at Sam's Chowder House often and we LOVE the lobster roll.
