Scobleizer: All for four notes in Windows Vista

  • John C. Welch · 2 years ago
Wait...so Microsoft is running a FUD campaign almost as big as any they've ever pulled against VMware, and you're posting about the Vista startup tones?

Okay...how about this. You'll never stop drinking the Microsoft kool-aid. How about maybe not bathing in it?

The earth is getting warmer by the minute, people are dying in 1000s in Africa and you want to talk about a FUD campaign by microsoft?

    Historic video?Is to laugh.
    Please.
Fripp plays live all the freakin time.
I've seen him play since the 70's.
Saw him with Crimson,League, opening for Porcupine Tree.
Historic would be footage of the first Crimson concert in '69.
    youtube-search fripp.

Let me add, The video is fine, its great, but the 'historic' description got me.
  • Robert Scoble · 2 years ago
james: those four sounds will be heard by hundreds of millions of people. It's historic. You might not like it, but it is historic. How do I know that? Cause people are bugging me for the tape at museums already. (I don't have it).

John: it's one of my favorite videos/experiences from my Microsoft experience. I've been waiting for nine months for it to be shown. If that's "bathing in the koolaid" then so be it. Funny that I'm being attacked for saying nasty things about Microsoft in another comment thread here. I guess I can't win.

Very cool Robert. I agree that it is hostoric. Windows Vist will eventually be used by hundreds of millions of people. This sound will be heard billions of times (depending on the number of reboots :). I think it's sort of sad that of all this cool work that...as far as I know...it was only used in the very short start-up sound. Am I mistaken? Was Fripp used elsewhere?

I saw King Crimson play in a church at Oberlin college in .... maybe 1979? Discipline. Very wierd night in a 70's kind of way. ;)

Pssh. You couldn't say anything really bad about Microsoft with a Bad-Thing-Saying Machine.

I also found the historic part funny, but since there is no such thing as "too much Fripp" who cares. For Service Pack 1 they should grab Trey Gunn and record him :)

Thanks for this Robert. I lived and enjoyed through the whole King Crimson thing in the late 60's, early 70's. This is a pleasure!!!
